<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: They are Typically not for Home Use
Most infrared heaters are not approved for residential living areas or for sleeping areas, according to the Infrared Heater Safety Council. They warn against ever using infrared heaters in any way or place other than what is indicated by the manufacturer.
On the Other: They Have Many Benefits
Infrared heaters heat quickly and use less fuel than air heaters. They are easy to install and maintain. They are used in warehouses, fire stations and automotive garages. They can be moved around and placed anywhere people like. They are also cleaner since they do not blow air around.
Bottom Line
Infrared heaters can be a fire or explosion hazard. All flammable objects, such as wood, paper, rubber, fabric and gasoline, should be kept away from infrared heaters. When used according to directions, infrared heaters can be a good option for your patio, garage or for commercial use.
