<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Consumer Reports Recommends Two LG Models
In 2009, Consumer Reports had reviewed nine current LG washing machine models and gave ratings of "very good" to the washing performance on eight of those. The organization recommended two LG models in particular--the WM2301H[W] and the WM2016C[W]--for overall value, efficiency and performance.
On the Other: Beware of Overspending
Consumer Reports gave very similar ratings to budget-minded and top-of-the-line models for the most part, indicating that comparable performance and quality could be had at price points of $850 (for the WM2301H[W]) and $1,500 (for the Allergiene WM2688H[WM]A). You'll pay considerably more for features like steam washing and allergen removal, which might or might not be worth the extra money to you.
Bottom Line
While almost all LG washers received good scores from Consumer Reports in 2009, the tests revealed that varying price points were often unjustified. If you're buying an LG, determine in advance which features you really need--and know that their best washers aren't necessarily their most expensive models.
