Renter's insurance covers both the people that live inside the apartment and the objects inside of that apartment. A renter's policy will protect you in case of theft or damage, and will also pay for you to live somewhere else if something happens to your dwelling. Finally, if someone is injured inside your home, the policy will cover that as well.

    On the Other: Not required

Renter's insurance in Georgia is not required and therefore it is an added expense that some people cannot afford every month. Also, the owner of the property should have insurance as well that can cover some issues such as damage to your possessions due to weather or structural issues.

    Bottom Line

Renters insurance is not that expensive, with some policies starting at $24 a month. If you live in an area in Georgia where theft is high and you have lot of possessions that are worth a lot of money, then buying rental insurance is a safe just-in-case idea. If you are willing to take a risk that you could lose all your possessions in case of an emergency, or if the cost of carrying rental insurance does not fit in your budget, then you should not get rental insurance.
