Out of 1,122 Sleep Number owners surveyed by SleepLikeTheDead.com, 888 of them (79 percent) said they found their beds to be comfortable. This number was very similar to what the same survey found when polling memory-foam and latex mattress owners. Most also found the beds to be durable. The ability to independently control the firmness of each side of the beds was a popular feature as well.
On the Other: Are They Worth the Price?
Owners generally found the prices of their Sleep Number air mattresses to be high. Though they seemed to find the quality to be worth the high price in many instances, the survey showed that buyers of less expensive mattresses were just as comfortable.
Bottom Line
As with any mattress, it's best to go to one or more stores and test different options. If money is no object and you find a Sleep Number model that suits you, you might find that it's the way to go. If you're concerned about spending too much though, give pillow top, memory foam and latex mattresses serious consideration before you buy anything.
