<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Puppies, Small Dogs and Cats
The PediPaws pet nail trimmer is a rotary nail grinder with a plastic housing to guide the nail and collect filings. Grinders such as PediPaws do not pinch the nail and decrease the chances of damaging the quick. PediPaws generally works well on puppies, small dogs and cats, which have smaller, less dense nails.
On the Other: Medium, Large and Multiple Dogs
PediPaws runs on two C batteries, so does not have the same strength as plug-in electric nail grinders. The tool is designed to stop rotating when too much pressure is applied to the nail, to prevent it from overheating on the nail. On larger dogs with dense nails, trimming either takes more time or is needed more frequently. Owners of multiple dogs will need to replace the batteries more often.
Bottom Line
PediPaws works well on puppies, small dogs and cats, but may be less effective on medium or large dogs. Owners of multiple dogs may spend more time using the PediPaws than they would a traditional nail grinder. Regardless of size, if the pet is not tolerant of the PediPaws, an alternate nail trimming method is necessary.
