Question

Help answer this question below.

Why are women the only species that the female is supposed to attract the male (makeup/big hair/clothes...all aimed at attracting the other gender)? Think about it; in birds and other animals the male wears the matting feathers, he's the brighter color.

Males try to attract females as well. Nice clothes, cologne, nice car etc..... In fact it costs a lot of money to attract a female!

There are some other species where the females attract males.

Also, in humans, males try to attract females as well. They flirt, give gifts, dress nicely, etc. It isn't all one way.

Because the one who determined the gender of animals switched everything around just for the lulz. Is probably still laughing his/her ass off.

Humans aren't the only species whose females try to be attractive, but there is more equal mate-attracting in humans than most other animals. Part of it is that humans most often mate in closed pairs. A peacock must look nice so he can mate with many peahens. But a female human usually prefers her mate to only mate with her, at least for the time being, and thus engages in behavior to make her appear a better choice than other females.
But it's not one sided, men are under just as much pressure to attract and keep mates as women are. It may just seem that women do more because so much of our behavior does involve physical beauty, whereas what makes a man attractive depends somewhat less on physical appearance.

This is true in Western cultures, but not necessarily in other ones. I once saw a documentary in which this African tibe's courting rituals involved the men donning face paint, standing in a line, and singing to the young women of village to attract their attention.
