You can't mix two colors together to get red. As you said, it is a primary color. You may be able to get a reddish brown to where it almost looks red after mixing or you can get a lighter red. Unless you mean mixing red and white to get pink and then mixing in more red to make it red again. You've only used to paint colors then.
