Driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) slows your thought process and response time, thereby causing accidents. In the United States, 700 people are injured daily and 36 people die in accidents involving an alcohol-impaired driver, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Because of the dangers of DUI, all states carry some penalties, even for a first offense. Florida has many penalties for driving under the influence.
Alcohol Levels
Driving with an alcohol level of .08 or above is a DUI in Florida. There are even stiffer penalties for a level of .15 or above.
