Fast charging is done at 6 to 10 amps. That could be convenient in this fast-paced world. The battery can be charged in three to six hours, or even as fast as one hour, depending on the amperage rate. However you take the risk of the plates in the battery becoming overheated and damaged. If this happens, it will greatly reduce the life of your battery.

On the Other: Slow Charging Batteries

Slow charging is done at 2 to 2.5 amps. It charges your battery overnight, usually in 14 to 16 hours. If you were traveling or going to work, you may not have the time to invest. However, this slow charge doesn't overheat the battery and therefore won't reduce the life of the battery.

    Bottom Line

If you are in a hurry, then by all means, get a quick charge. If the plates aren't overheated then they won't be damaged, but with a quick charge, you always take that chance. And if you have the time to spare, always get a slow charge. This way you know for sure that you haven't damaged your battery or shortened its life.
