Spousal abuse is physical, emotional, psychological, financial, sexual or a combination of more than one aspect. The abuse happens to both men and women.
Physical Abuse
Physical abuse causes bodily damage to the spouse. Bruises, broken bones or any bodily harm done by hand or weapon constitutes physical abuse. Extreme extent of physical abuse can be life threatening.
Emotional Abuse
Emotional Abuse is harm caused with words and emotions. The verbal abuse of insults and painful mockery of a spouse causes the emotional pain associated with emotional abuse.
Psychological Abuse
Psychological abuse is a result of emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse or financial abuse. Abusing the spouse with verbal threats or insults go beyond emotional abuse and cause lasting psychological problems. Any abuse leads to psychological abuse.
Financial Abuse
Extremely controlled finances are a factor in violent marriages.
Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse is rape, any form of force during a sexual act or any sexual activity that is unwanted.
