Singing full throttle without warming up is not so good. Pushing your voice beyond a comfortable limit is also unhelpful. Don't push it when you're ill, tired or have a sore throat. Avoid smokey atmospheres, drink plenty of water. I practiced scales every day when I was singing constantly. I practiced voice projection with my speaking voice and also my ennuciation with my spoken voice, clarity is helpful and you can make it more subtle once you're really clear, but it's hard to be clear if you're usually mumbling. Don't eat or drink dairy before performing or practicing.
