Brain tumors do not cause hair loss. However, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, treatments for brain tumors, may leads to hair loss.
Symptoms
Common symptoms of brain tumors include frequent and severe headaches, confusion, trouble speaking, changes in personality or behavior, nausea, seizures and vision problems.
Types
Brain tumors can be benign (non-cancerous and slow to increase in size) or malignant (cancerous and fast-growing). They may be primary (originating in the brain) or secondary (cancerous cells which grew in another part of the body and spread to the brain).
Treatment
Treatment for brain tumors include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Side Effects
Both chemotherapy and radiation therapy can cause fatigue and hair loss. External radiation therapy will generally cause localized hair loss in the area where it was applied.
Hair Loss
Most causes of hair loss are much less serious than a brain tumor, including pattern baldness, alopecia and overstyling.
