In the September 1999 issue of the "Journal of the American Dietetic Association," doctors from Penn State University said that eating 0.75g of soluble fiber per serving, such as oats, every day "significantly decreased total cholesterol ('5.6 percent), LDL cholesterol ('7.1 percent) and LDL/HDL ('5.6 percent)."
