On the contrary, I find it better. Being able to award points according to the value of the answer is a bonus. I like the new layout, it's much easier to navigate. The personal profile page info is RIGHT there. The social questions are out of my sight making it easier to find relevant questions to my areas of knowledge. People are actually having to EARN their points, rather than having them handed to them. All in all, a huge improvement.

This is not an answer to my own question...merely a comment. I have really enjoyed "getting to know" some of you. Your insights have been very informative, your humor..uplifting. There are those of you who has confirmed my conviction that people are basically good and have a genuine desire to help others...you know who you are..:-) It's been fun...most of the time. But it seems that the main purpose is not here any more. Maybe it's me...regardless..my heart is not in it any more. Goodbye...Mystic

I agree, although my presence here hasn't been long, I'm feeling some sort of drift, going somewhere else carrying all this knowledge. User activity sure doesn't seem to be here, qusestions aren't the ones that may truly help exterior visitors, and well the new interface is elagant, but.

I feel that it has gained some substance, but lost a lot of spirit. The site lately has drifted away from much of what made it so beardy in the first place; The close knit community, the cult-classic feel that it had with it's obscurity, the value of good civil debate, rather than wars by numbers... Etc. I won't argue quality though, because quality is objective, the new features that I percieve as drifting from old values, some may see as a process of aquiring better ones, I can't rightly say that it's any better or worse. But I can say this, I liked the old days of Answerbag much better.

I feel that it is a lot more professional than the old version was. Information is organised into relevant categories and thus makes it easier to find. The sliding scale for points also challenges users to actually earn their points with good answers, as Scubabob has said. One thing that I love to see is professionally designed websites with a large userbase. Answerbag is most certainly now one of them

Now that I've got the hang of it, I like the new site features very much and think it's a great improvement. However, I find that the quality of the questions is somewhat lacking lately. This site is designed for spirited debate and useful exchange of knowledge as well as more social questions. But "How are you feeling?" "What's up?" "What are you eating?" There are too many inane questions thrown out just for points. That's just my opinion. Rate as you will.

I agree. The character has been lost, you could be on Yahoo now, there's no personality to the site any more, it was unique in the old format. I also think, crucially, that it is not as addictive somehow, much easier to quit! JOEL TAKE NOTE!

I feel that I am no longer a member of a community ,just a large question and answer site, which I am still having trouble finding my way around. I think some of the new features are great and that a very good job has been done on the remodelling. Just in the change it seems to have lost its heart which was an integral part of the addictive charm of Answerbag

I do think that it is time for us to start using the question flags and start marking questions for what they really are. Honestly I am not interested in going back to high school, There are way to many homework questions being asked on here anymore, I have ironicly even noted 14 - 16 year olds asking very sensitive adult type questions and getting all types of responses to them. The new layout and design doesn't bother me at all. The pointless questions that are seemingly growing more and more each day do though. It seems AB is getting cluttered with just plain garbage and we need to clean it up.

I am starting to feel it more and more. I used to be able to get interesting questions all day now I have to hunt them down. I used to be in at least two or three really good debates now it's more like, "You suck" type of comments. I just don't feel stimulated as much as I did. It's also gotten a lot less intimate. I haven't really gotten to know a new user in a while where as I used to meet one every other day. I just can't put my finger on it quite right. I'm staying for now and am trying to fight the good fight as Bob as suggested but I just don't know.
-
Me! I don't know why, but ever since they changed the layout, I feel like I'm on a total different site, and it's not AB anymore. I don't really know how to explain it though. *shrugs*

Everyone has their own view about what makes a good question. I think the diversity of questions makes AB more interesting. I also know that you can really learn a lot about a person by the questions they ask and the answers they give. I have come across some really amazing, wonderful people here. I did feel a closer sense of community when we had the other format, but hopefully in time, that sense of community will return.

It seems fine to me and I got no compliants. I don't don't how AB was before I got here anyway. So what do I care.
-
I have noticed a change, but I thought it was for the better, more camaraderie rather than less. I have been active nearly a year now, and I like it here.
-
I really can't say because I wasn't here in April 2007, when you asked this question. But I'm telling you, AB is much much better than Yahoo Answers, in terms of content and management.
