  • Sounds like a great topic, not only interesting but of special importance to you. Now you just need to get organized. For any essay or speech, you need to start writing down not sentences but just words or ideas that you'd like to talk about. These words/ideas will naturally clump themselves into similar areas [perhaps emotional/financial/legal issues? or maybe how you found out/what it was like/what you did about it?] which will become your main points. Once you know your main points, you can write your topic sentence (where you "tell them what you will tell them") and your conclusion (where you "tell them what you told them"). Next, flesh out your main points. Finally, if everything else has fit together nicely, go back and write an attention-catching way to introduce the essay beyond [and before] the topic sentence. Good luck!
