If you forced yourself to gain a skill that you didn't have (e.g. upped your IQ) would that skill then get passed onto your children along with your other traits?

There is a possiblity that your children would pick up the same skill. There are several ways this can happen: The ability to gain a certain skill can be passed on genetically. (The one I was taught at school was the ablity to roll your tongue into a tube), so that your children are more likely to gain the same skill. The fact that you have a skill could alter your child's environment. For instance, if you are a musician, the children, with a musical enviroment, the child will pick up a better ear for music.
