Unemployed. Why do you need to be PC in referring to someone who doesn't have a job?
-
Bum jumps to mind, but I know thats not it. um. oh yes, I got it, "Lazy no good bum". ;)
-
Forget about being politically correct.........There are those, like myself, who was laid off from their job through no fault of their own and there are those that are bums (not PC) and lazy (not PC) and just parasites (not PC).
-
I am unemployed now, there is nothing wrong with being unemployed. If he was laid off, fired, quit, it is really of no consequence.
-
Simply say..."my brother-in-law has been affected by the recession."
-
I think unemployed would be the most PC way of saying it. +5
-
Well - I suppose it would depend somewhat on the context, the situation. If I was asked by someone who I thought had any business of knowing I would say he does not have a job otherwise most of the time I have no idea why I would care to refer to that fact. +5

"Unemployed" ~ other added adjectives/connotations ( many of with which I highly disagree ) other people wish to add are out of one's control +5
