Why do all laptop speakers suck so bad?

I have seen laptops with REALLY good speakers, but I understand what you're saying cause my laptop speakers suck too. I think they probably wanna annoy you to the point that you go back the the store and buy a set of really nice headphones so they make more money lol

They are usually cheap and tiny !! Netbooks are even worst,you can't hear S***!!! Basically useless!

All of the one's I've seen suck pretty bad. I just use my iPod or headphones. You can also can add on speakers of course, but that defeats the point of a laptop.

It's their small size. The diameter of the speaker's driving element determines the lowest frequency it can efficiently produce. The smaller the 'tinnier'.

Diameter too small, depth too small, space between speakers not wide enough for actual real stereo effect, inability to provide 5.1, subwoofer won't fit, not enough power...?
