i think that's messed up, they are way over the appropriate age and they have they're rights!
Yes, thats not right. They should have the right to watch what ever they want unless it scares them or makes them ill or angry. They have rights just like the rest of us but unfortunatley most nursing homes don't respect those rights. I worked at one, made me sick how understaffed & over populated it was. They would hire anyone almost & some people wasn't so nice to the clients. Those lil people are precious, we could all learn alot about life going to any nursing home & spending a few hours a week talking to & spending time with them. They didn't ask to get old just like all of us someday that will be us too but I think if they want to watch any movies they should be able to they've earned that right.
I kinda understand for the general population, but if I go to one, and wish to watch an unedited Die Hard (any of them), Lethal Weapon (any of them), or any of another hundred or more, including PG-13 DISNEY movies, they'd better come with every big, burly guard they have.
I would be more concerned about the care they received. But,My mom who is living with my Dad in their own house can't tolerate a movie with any kind of foul language, definitely no nudity! I guess it depends on whats shown and our Parents sensibilities. Not Black or White answer for me.
first of all, seniors are HUMAN BEINGS, with basic HUMAN RIGHTS. if someone tried to tell my grandmother what she could or couldn/t watch, she'd have bent her cane off the back of their head and been kicking the shit out of them before they hit the ground.
our elders are not animals to be put in a cage and treated like mindless pets, i say if the people at the nursing home want to violate the seniors' rights, you should get a long sharp stick and violate them damn nurses!
If it is a private nursing home then they have the right to make that kind of a rule. I don't have a problem with it, personally. If someone wants to be able to watch these kinds of movies they can move to a different home or petition to be able to watch them in their own rooms.
If I make it that long, I'll watch whatever I damned well please. The more appropriate concern is how much xanax it takes to watch "Beethoven's 58" on repeat.
Honestley I think its fucking ridiculous.
I agree that it is messed up, but I have worked in many places that the residents get their own dvd player. Family members bring in real movies. I even once had a res with a collection of porn.
My guess is that people have dodgy hearts. Or possibly not the memory span to know that they're watching a movie and not the news.
As a blanket rule though, that blows.
It's not right about PG-13, however restricting them from R may be right. When I was 14, I had a class where a movie was shown as a reward every three weeks if the class was good. The rules were the movie had to be PG-13 or under. Usually a PG-13 movie was watched.

I agree. They certainly have had enough life experience to be able to handle a movie "appropriate" enough for an 18 year old. <rolls eyes and shakes head>
