    Define "file-sharing".

There are many types of files that are MEANT to be shared; Linux patches, most open-source software, etcetera. File-sharing in and of itself is not only morally permissible, but sometimes ENCOURAGED!

Hell, technically every scrap of info on the 'net is a file on a server somewhere; imagine if EVERY server suddenly decided to stop sharing!!!

Are you referring strictly to the sharing of copyrighted works?

Heck if you disagree with the copy right your supposed to be able to return the open CD according to there contract for fun refund. You can not. So MS broke Contract first.
I bought a copy of MCE Xp for 200 dollars called MS to make shore it was legit and full life time licence.one year later it turned out to be only a year licence, I complained the admitted fault and said if it was Xp they would give me a full copy but becouse MCE was so expensive they could not do that. Even though it was there(Microsoft's) mistake! And it was to late to get my Cash Back.

President Bush was revealed to having P2P stolen Beatles songs on his Player.

So if lawyer are going to make laws only for the rich.

Then to follow those laws is to endorse them.

All are meant to be Equal in the Eyes of the law they are not.

So It Is Immoral to Support Those Laws. And there for Civil Disobedience Is Moral.

P2P is moral becouse P2P Is a Moral Duty.

Do you really want to to pay for everything? as long as it is okay and nothing is happening, just use it like everybody else. Music for one thing should not be priced. It is an absurd idea. iTunes is a fail

Filesharing itself is a technology, not a morals issue. Morality is a flexible thing, depending a lot on the culture and time you grow up in. The whole file sharing thing has a long history - covering things like 'fair use' and changes in copyright laws over time.

It was expected at one time that people would record songs off the radio so djays would talk over the beginning and end of songs - the recording itself was legal for personal use (but not resale). Making mix tapes of your stuff for friends was legal too. Today, RIAA and MPAA would have you sent you to Guantanamo Bay if the could for doing essentially the same things - they have been instrumental in shifting perceptions about what is "moral", not just about what is legal.

But file sharing is more than music as it includes copyright and non-copyright software, images, video, etc. Some file sharing is 100% legal (as someone else pointed out). Your safest option is to operate within the confines of the law. Respect copyright, for one day you might want its protection too.
