Unfortunately, Ford may be right about this one. We Americans don't like anything that has a passenger cabin small enough for the passengers to touch each other, are willing to sacrifice handling so that we don't have to feel the road (VERY dangerous in bad weather when you actually need to know what the car is doing and what the roads are like), and can't even be bothered with a clutch. One thing I should point out here though is that people in Japan and Europe actually know how to drive. In fact, many places have a drivers test that is FFFAAAARRR more comprehensive than our 20-questions and a 2-minute joyride that we have here. DO you know what to do if your car flips over and lands roof-down in a drainage ditch? Did your drivers test observer take you on ice? Did you complete the written portion of the test in under 4 hours? That and they pay hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars for their license, so they make DAMN sure not to do anything that would cause them to lose it and have to get another one. My point is that while that is a nice toy, it will NNNNNEEEEEEVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRR sell here in the land of in-dash DVD players and people who can't even be bothered to put down the newspaper as they drive down the road.
