Someone crossed out text with a black marker on white paper. How do I remove the ink so that I can read what's hidden?

You're not going to be able to remove the ink without removing the paper. You can try holding it up towards the light and see if any of it is readable. Or, you can take a sharpened #2 pencil and lightly rub the back side of the paper to see the depressions that are made with the downward pressure of writing with the pen.
