Keep in mind that most people who go to Christian Churches, in my experience, don't 'stand up' for the cause when the going gets tough. The ones who do usually face ridicule, and that's a small percentage overall.

They aren't a majority anywhere other than Vatican City. Furthermore, while ones in the US and UK face little or no persecution (whatever they may claim name calling is weak sauce), Christian's elsewhere do face great mistreatment.

i'll assume you are speaking only of the united states. i really don't know, perhaps it's all the verses in the bible about the persecuted being blessed. there is, however, persecution of christians in other countries where they are the minority. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/rel_rel_all-religion-religions-all
