  • Civilised, strong willed, truthful, organised...love the country.the fog, and the underground rail.
  • rainy, high-brow, lots of tea.
  • I think that England has a very rich culture, but I also think it doesn't have a single culture - all at the same time. I think that within England there are many cultures (in terms of norms, customs, practices, traditions expectations and ideals) which have evolved and developed throughout English history, and these cultures are probably historically grouped according to class and perhaps region. I do think that there are cultural things that are very English though, and these things contribute to an identifiable English culture - architecture, art, literature, cuisine - there are aspects of all of them which just scream "English". I think these things are quite unique and beautiful.
  • I think it is the highest and most cultivated culture human mankind ever could develop. It is just unreachable and a myth which less sophisticated and developped people never will be able to conceive.
  • All I know about the English is through their literature. I've never been to England. From my perspective, I find English culture very interesting because they have a long history and it comes all the way to America's history. I'm not too impressed with their music. I think the Germans have outdone all the cultures as far as composers go. The English do have a few though. Art? Yes, there is much art there and several museums I'd like to visit. I do give them an A++on literature.
  • The British are a very formal people, I have heard. Two men might me seeing one another everyday at a Bus Stop for months together, but will not speak to one another unless formally introduced to one another by a mutual friend. This is what I have been told about British manners and etiquette. I don't know how much of it holds good in today's England.
  • Varied, and changing. England is a multi-cultural nation these days. There are things which contribute to modern culture, but they are quite different from traditional cultures. There are huge degrees of cultural variance from North to South, and from East to West. But as to English culture, in the sense of the arts, again, there is a lot of variance - from the writings of Shakespeare to Hardy, from Austen to Orten, from the paintings of Constable to the photography of Bailey, from the music of Purcell to the Sex Pistols - again, it is varied, vibrant and evolving. No culture can sit still.
