OK I only asked this question because I wanted to answer it myself and for the record tonight AB is really annoying me because I am totally seeing both sides of the spectrum. I try my hardest to be uplifting and nice and occasionally funny on AB and I see so much of that on AB especially from our highest rankers (it is no wonder how you got there) but tonight I am seeing users (one in particular but I'm not pointing fingers) who are doing just the opposite and I just have to ask why?

Yes. This is quite a disturbing phenomenon. Since I'm relatively new here, I cannot speak for how long it's been going on. But in my book, any amount of time is too long. People don't come on a site to be put down, abused or treated with disrespect. Unfortunately though, visitors cannot be screened for issues that would make them act this way. So we all have to learn to deal with them. Luckily, new people who have the propensity you speak of usually burn themselves out pretty quickly. Long-time users? No excuse, except that they are very insecure if they have to put others down to make themselves feel better. I look at them with pity more than anything else and carry on doing what I believe is best. Learning to deal with difficult people is a part of life and a part of AB. The lessons can actually be quite valuable and personally rewarding. Thanks for the question.

It's disturbing the amount of crass-ness that seems to be seeping into the site. I hope you're not too upset about it even though it is annoying, at best. Many good users leave because it starts to wear on them too much. Just ignore it as much as possible and don't take any of it seriously. You're great and I appreciate your contributions to the site.

This question has been asked many times in different ways and the answer will always be the same. . .AB is just like the "real world" and as we all know, not everyone is nice. There are always going to be bad apples unfortunately. Let it go and be thankful that the majority of AB users are extremely nice people who have no interest in putting others down.
