Why the hell did we evolve this way that we suck at climbing trees?

Speak for yourself! I was quite the monkey when I was younger. My daughter and her friends are pretty agile too.

We don't need to escape predators by running off into trees. By being upright and freeing our arms, we can use tools to scare off or protect ourselves from predators. We got better at being on the ground, and lost a lot of the tree-ability. Oh well - we're still better at tree climbing than your average elephant...
