  • I am sure fincially and their reputation is effected negatively. They will lose at lot of consumers that have used their product, and these people will change to other products. It will take much effort for them to regain credibility.
  • We have four cats, and they all eat fancy feast (only). since yesterday they are all vomiting. however, it wasn't on the recall lists anywhere. so i am not sure what's going on.
  • As for the question about Fancy Feast safety, I've been researching and haven't found any evidence that any of their catfood products have been affected. The company claims that none of their catfood products are tainted. I have a question for the person who responded to this question, saying she has been feeding her 4 cats fancy feast and, as of yesterday, all of them were vomiting. I am VERY concerned because I feed my cats fancy feast. Please reply, letting me know how your cats are and if you have been able to determine if their vomiting is related to the catfood. Thank you kindly.
  • not to my knowledge,i asked my groceier and he said that fancy feast was safe and i also check the intrnet for thourogh info and have not come across it.
  • My cat prefers the gravy type canned food and we've found that he's particularly fond of Fancy Feast, however, he has been showing signs of illness. We recently bought 12 cans because it was on sale. In the past 2 weeks, he has been vomiting. We related this to the grass we've seen in the vomit. He's been drinking water excessively. We thought this was due to the hot weather and he's a black cat. But now he is lethargic and shows no interest in going outside in the morning hours, which was his happy routine. We stopped feeding him the Fancy Feast just to eliminate any possibility of contamination (the second listed ingredient is 'wheat gluton'). If his lethargy continues, we will bring him to the vet tomorrow.
  • My cat abbie died today from kidney failure. I had her put to sleep. Feb. 25, 2008 She was 13. Her checkup 6 months ago was passed with flying colors. She was very healthy. Her blood tests were normal. I have been feeding her fancy feast for the last 5 months adding meat to her diet along with Iams dry food that I have been feeding her for a long time. Could the fancy feast have caused her kidney failure. I believe it did.
  • I had a healthy, mini-panther cat named Oscar who was 20 lbs of solid CAT! I usually feed my cat Friskies, however, the store didn't have the Friskies brand, so I purchased a bag of Fancy Feast. My cat started vomiting, then had diaherra, became motionless, couldn't eat or drink, and then died. This was all within a 24 hour period. I'd say something was wrong with the Fancy Feast cat food!
  • Not sure if my post went through... My cats got sick on monday from Fancy feast ... one died on wednessday. the other is going slowly with the same symptoms, right after they ate they vomited passed out, stayed in a lethargic state, stayed near the water bowl and drank alot of water (when she was still able to stand) My story is here under "a fancy feast from hell" http://itchmoforums.com/cat-food-experiences-by-brand-b75.0/
  • Switch her to dry purina cat food, I have never heard of it being tainted. My cat has been eating it for 19 years, supplement her with chicken breasts and sometimes canned white chicken meat as well. Most wet cat foods are not worth the risk. My cats all eat purina,.. its not so rich that it would affect their kidneys. Ive never heard that purinas been on the tainted list.
  • No, my cats eat it all the time. Now they have a dry kind too.
  • I've been looking for it on the recall lists. I can't find it anywhere on there. I am looking it up because I have ... had ... two kittens we adopted last week. They were quite fine. Two days ago, I remembered that I had a case of Fancy Feast in the pantry, and I offered them a little. The little male especially loved it, and ate it several times. Last night he started having convulsions and became unresponsive. I took him to the vet, and he has died now from liver failure. They couldn't tell me anything except that he must have gotten some toxins into his system. I don't use insecticides in my home, and all of the cleaners and other products are locked in the cabinet. I use mostly natural products, and there really is nothing in this house that could have poisoned him. The other foods he has been eating are Purina kitten chow, which is what he has been eating since being weaned with no problems, and Solid Gold, which our store sells and I KNOW is not affected with any contaminants. It might not have been the Fancy Feast, but I don't know any other possible cause. We're going to miss the little guy. Although we didn't have him for very long, I was getting quite attached to him as he was the sweetest kitten I've ever met, wanting to sleep on my shoulder or arm anytime he wanted to rest, and wanting to be held and snuggle most of the rest of the time. RIP little Lynx. trishanna
  • My 9 year-old-cat died yesterday because of kidney failure!!!! He had Fancy Feast Cat Can Food for longer than one year, and we noticed he lost weight and getting weaker and weaker in this period of time; since he liked the flavor, this was his only food source....He got the diagnosis of kidney failure one month ago. After all the treatments vet could give to him, his BUN and other kidney values all were still very high and developed seizures!!!!! If there are other cats also got kidney failure after taking "Fancy Feast Can Cat Food", we should investigate the reasons behind this!!!! Hope all cat- parents/owners having the concerns about Fancy Feast Cat Food can come up and rise your questions too!!!!
  • Although no one here found fancy feast on the recall list, I saw that it is listed in the class action suit recently settled. So the fancy feast folks hid something from us. Maybe we should start a class action suit against them, since they were not upfront from the onset. Bless you all who lost your beloved pets and the agony you went thru.
  • No-never on recall list. I have fed my cats fancy feast for years. My cats lived to old ages with illnesses appropriate for their age. One lived until just over 18 years and two until just over 17. My fourth cat will be 17 in June. Please remember sudden diet changes can often cause vomiting and/or diarrhea, sometimes severe. Always wean pets onto a new diet slowly by mixing with the regular food over a 5-7 day period.
  • I had a 2 year old siamese cat that was 100% healthy and strictly indoors. I have another cat that doesnt do well with can foods she gets diahrea so i decided to try fancy feast with my 2 yr old siamese since they were small cans. i locked my other cat in a different room and gave karma my siamese a can of ocean whitefish and tuna feast fancy feast. when he was done eating his food id let the other cat out. within less than 24 hours he started drooling at the mouth and seizures soon followed. he was taken to a animal hospital that ran tests and said all his organs were fine but the couldnt make sense of the mysterious seizures. he wouldnt drink water on his own and his seizures increased to every 3 minutes some mini some grand mau seizures i had no choice to put him down as he was going to die soon and he was just being tortured. i am very upset about this he was the sweetest pet. and even more disturbing he was young and healthy until he ate fancy feast.my cat died a very violent death due to a can of food that i thought would be a treat for him. Iam currently having the food tested. if anyone has similar stories please contact me. anbraddock@comcast.net
  • My 10 year Siamese is at the vet's for 5 days now. He had a teaspoon of Fancy Feast Grilled Turkey last week Friday and then another teaspoon on Saturday and hours later he started vomiting and gave bloody diarrea . All tests for parasites, FIP Feline lek,etc came negative.
  • I have been feeding my cat Lexie Fancy Feast Elegant Medley's shredded fare for quite some time now. She's now 3 years old. Recently she must notice something wrong with it because two of the flavors, her favorites of the three, she won't touch. Out of the two boxes I recently bought, I've ended up throwing away 8 of the 12 cans. I can only assume she smells something not right and fortunately is smart enough not to eat it. I guess it's time to find something else.
