Just use common sense and your computer will be fine. Try to avoid sex sites and sites that offer a key generator for a program as a rule of thumb, they are a breeding ground for viruses and spy ware.

Any porn sites or game sites that require downloading. Those are often breeding grounds for the Trojan horse virus. The Trojan is a nasty bugger. If you don't catch it in time it will turn your hard-drive into a bloody pulp. It can do that. Seriously. Blood everywhere.

Download a program called spybot search & destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html It is a spyware scanner but also has a feature called 'immunize' What it does is add a list of known bad sites to your browser blocked list.... just make sure you do the update to get the most comprehesensive list.
