Not quite, no, but close. I have never had a credit card and do not even want one, and I only have a simple checking account. My martial arts lessons bring in very little money, but it is a constant, and I always have just enough for bills and a few dollars left over. My second business (software) is sales based and varies a lot. I can go many months with a zero income from this source, or I can get a small mountain of five and twenty dollar cheques that total several thousand dollars per day for several weeks in a row, then nothing again for months at a time. This is what I carefully set aside and budget by buying stuff in bulk, like toilet paper in 64 rolls, large sacks of rice & flour, spices by the kilogram, etc.

Totally. 'Course I was an irresponsible drunk for many years, and employed most of the time but occasionally I did find myself broke and homeless and a few times stranded far from home. Kind of a reckless lifestyle but one learns how to adapt..
