How can men place so much emphasis on a girls looks and girls just place very little on it? Why do girls place little emphasis on it?

Men and women get together to reproduce. The woman offers her ability to produce many healthy children. The man offers his ability to take care of them. Looks are a measure of someone's health. Since the woman must physically carry the child, it is very important that she be in shape. On the other hand, it is only important if the man have status, money, or friends to help raise the children.
Tell me honestly, would you be interested in a man, no matter how good looking, if he had no friends, money, or status?

What do you want to say? Girls place little emphasis on men's looks? I don't think so. Girls are also often very interested in men's looks. But if the man does not have a job, or money, or some kind of wealth, or seems very good at something, this will not be enough (except, they have enough money for both).

Men could get interest in a girl just for their looks, but they usually won't stay by her if there is not something else. Many girls don't wan't to lose times with such worthless tries (it depends on the girls, though).

Because most women are looking for a life companion and someone they can talk to. There are women who do go for looks but for most the would rather have an interesting person then a hot guy.

Guys go for the eye candy first, not all, then if they like their personality it goes further.

I say woman are looking for husbands, men are looking for sex. Not always true, but that is usually how it starts.

Because looks don't matter in the long run.

I place a lot of emphasis on a man's looks. He has to be cute to me! Even if a guy is really nice, I couldn't be interested unless I found him physically appealing. My (2nd) husband is cute to me, and altho' I do like his personality overall (for the most part, that is - meaning, except for a few traits like the fact that he can be quite messy - a 'caveman' type!), if he weren't appealing physically to me, I could never have married him (in early 2002!).

Actually girls do place emphasis on their looks, or there wouldn't be billion-dollar cosmetic, fashion, and diet industries.
Or do you mean girls don't place emphasis on men's looks?

Guys are more visaul and women are more emotional, by nature.

Whereas the girls spend hours to achieve the precise " look " they want. Females care far more about their looks than the male looking.

Of course, the male loves to see the eye candy, but when it comes down to it, thats just the packaging for what he really has an iterest in.
