  • What a sad, sad commentary and I find this to be really offensive. To associate such a beautiful thought and song with what you are suggesting is nothing short of demented in itself in my opinion. I think anyone who would consider others conjuring up negative images as a result of hearing this is more than a little twisted. Posting this video only serves to perpetuate a horrible suggestion. In doing so you defile the feelings of every parent who has ever loved their little girl. I mean how do you know they respond to this song or are you posting for the sake of shock? What is the real purpose of this post? Have you discussed it with any pedophiles recently. This is just sick.
  • Watching a 50 year old fat frog drooling over a young girl as in Maurice Chevalier and Leslie Caron makes me skeeve.
  • i don't understand why we need the video that was sweet and innocent as a reference. i enjoyed the song and the video with no trouble. i just wish you had not posted since this is like fishing for the creeps and using bait. i know all kinds of questions get asked on ab but my mind would never have thought of this sexual in any way but because of the taint you added in your question with the video it is now on my mind how sick some people are. i'm sorry mensan but i wish you could edit out the video and just ask the question with a reference such as, vids with young children.
  • I have a friend who is a pedophile.
  • I do not believe that the majority of people listening to this song would ever think about pedophiles while listening to it ... before this question!! :( It's a lovely song from a lovely era ... let's not ruin it.
  • Post without thinking --> sadly :)
  • Isn't ashamed this world has come to the place where a beautiful story and song have been thought of in this way? I remember when the movie came out and all the Oscars it won! There is nothing in this song to indicate what you have indicated. Go soak your head and quit stiring a cold pot that does not need stiring. your are sick!
  • Pedophiles, or those who think too much about them, have made it so for MANY beautiful songs. However, if you can disassociate your mind from thinking of THEM, and consider what the writer of the song MEANT, then you can still consider the song as it was meant to be. Consider damn-near any lullaby... ANY song or poem that mentions little kids or even teens... What about the song, "She's 16"? You CANNOT allow your mind to go THERE, or any LOVE song can be construed as such. Take it all in context.
  • I don't see how that is. If you enjoy the song, no pedophile can take that away from you unless you let them.
  • I've made fun of Chevalier for years (in private company) over that song, often imitating him in exaggerated french accent as a mock pedophile, because I think it's ironic that when he did this song, no one took offense; but if anyone did it today, he'd be rounded up, publicly castigated, and likely ruin his career. I propose that only those who are too tightly wound or are fighting their own inner pedophile can't see the humor in this.
