Because they can't agree to disagree. But not all of them hate each other. Many don't hate.
-
Is it hate or frustration? Each side knows the truth and it is just so maddeningly frustrating when the other side just doesn't get it.
-
Why do you feel that there is. . I am an atheist and have never felt that Christians or a Christian hate me, leastways, not because i am an atheist. . Actualy, if they are practising Christians, they couldn't ahte me could they ;-)? . Likewise, I have never hated a Christian for his beliefs. . It may be that some on both sides of the fence are more strident in pushing thier personal views as being the only right view, but this is intolerance, not hate.

I don't think there is. I've been to a Christian camp and everyone knew I wasn't Christian and there were lots of others who weren't, but we all got along incredibly well. +5

Some Atheists feel that Christians are clinging desperately to mythology to make themselves feel better, and trying to impose their religious beliefs on them, and brainwash the children of the world. Some Christians feel that Atheists are trying to tear down their religion, remove religion from the public sphere, and act in a generally superior and obnoxious manner. Their holy book also states that Atheists are idiots, which doesn't help matters. In short, both of these groups hold beliefs which clash. Both feel that the world should be moving in different directions. It's natural that they should disagree. When neither gives any ground up, I suppose they start to hate each other. It's unfortunate, as hate seems to close the door on reasonable dialogue.

Is there really? You've got to take what you see here with a grain of salt. Offline, christians and atheists probably give each other little more than a passing thought.

On the internet people tend to act very uncivilized (if you were to act the same way in the outside world that is). Atheists tend to speak very obnoxiously on Christianity over the internet. Not saying the same Christians don't exist, but not nearly as often or as bad. Rarely have I had honest debate, and more often than not I've been called delusional or something equally as insulting. In real life I've never met a Atheist like this. Its the anonymity of the internet.

Since I never ask anyone there religious beliefs it is not something I come into contact with a lot.
-
There isn't. Most of these two groups of people just get on with their lives and accept that other people will do the same. It is only the idiotic extremists who hate others because of different beliefs and, in my opinion, hate-filled extremists are dangerous, regardless of their particular set of beliefs.

Hate is a very strong word. I think it's misunderstandings between the two. People have their opinions and beliefs, and if there's someone else who is complete opposite opinoion and beliefs; there's bound to be some controversy. But I hope that no one really hates anyone.

It's the ultimate battle of Faith vs Logic.
-
Because one knows they're right, and the other just thinks they're right.
-
I don't think there is as much hate as it sometimes appeares. Both sides are adamant in their beliefs and this can look hostile on occasion. For me it's nothing personal, I don't hate those who don't share my views. I believe what I believe and I feel it's my right to share my beliefs when asked.
-
Don't think it is hate as much as it is a lack of respect for the opposing point of view.
-
I would have no problem with christians if they weren't treating homosexuals as sub human and indoctrinating their kids to the point where they believe the earth was literally made in 6 days.
-
Coupled with a profound inability to hear the other person's side of the story, and arrogant belief that their side is correct... well, you do the math.

There is a battle going on about mind control. There are hardly any atheists in America but you can always hear their voices loudly, especially in movies and books. In Italy, which is considered a religious country, some people are trying to remove religious items, like crucifixes from government and school buildings, just like here in America. I don't think they will in Italy.
-
Christians are anti-American. They kill people just like the muslims and are bully-boys. Atheists react to that. Christians don't like anyone, atheists just being one of many on their list.
-
The hate must be onesided because Christians would pray for them not hate them.

You may be confusing hate with differences in our rational understanding of the universe and the real world. Our government (U.S.) is being infiltrated by religious wackos who believe they are commanded by an all-powerful invisible spirit to change the laws, even the Constitution itself. They complain loudly that our gov't does not reflect their personal religious beliefs in supernatural spirits. Their strange beliefs in supernatural phenomena have overwhelmed their reason and rational perspective that most of us are born with. I personally believe that those who claim to be commanded by invisible spirits are insane, but that much is their own problem. The problem for the rest of us is to protect our gov't and Constitution from their pernicious meddling. Many of these religious fanatics are card-carrying members of the Republican Party. They take their marching orders from Fox News, the official propaganda mouthpiece of the GOP. The Fox News "priests" are owned and paid by their "pope," Rupert Murdoch.
