How can we get women to believe that if they want us to know how they feel and what they think, they need to just say it?

Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk.

Some lessons must be learned through experience. When they see that they can't get what they want in any other way, then they'll learn to speak plainly. But they will only open up to you if you show that you're willing to listen.

Just rely on them to read your mind ;)

Let her know that you have all the time she needs to listen to what she has to say. Don't try to rush through conversations. That says you are impatient and do not have time to listen to her.
