Christians teach that Jesus never married, even though a man who had never married would not have been referred to as a teacher in ancient Judea, nor would a single man have been regarded as holy, as the Talmud considers celibacy unnatural. Did Jesus violate the law of Genesis 2:24 or were the 18 undocumented years of his life omitted from Biblical texts for political reasons?

Please visit http://www.askislam.org/people/prophets/muhammad/question_818.html for more. Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had to fight numerous defensive battles to secure Islam. It happened once that a chief of a Jewish tribe and his son in law was killed in such a battle and there was no one to care for her daughter {named Saffia (may peace & blessings of Allah be upon her)} and Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)accepted the duty to be her husband. Moreover, to preach Isalm in different tribes, he had to marry. Muslims loved him so much that atleast three or more of his wives were either daughters (Ayesha (d/o AbuBakar) & Hafsa may peace & blessings of Allah be upon them)or were from close relatives of his companions. So, he married more than 4 women. (Muslims please also visit this link) _______________________________________________________Counter Question:(Please do answer if you are a Christian) Why don't Christians act upon this saying of bible? ‘But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.’ (Matthew: 5:39)

They don't say Muhammad was sinless, they say he was the last messenger of God. And no more than 4 wives is a recommendation depending on what sect you adhere to. And polygamous marriages were common during that time period, and in many countries it is common to this day. The rule in general is don't have more wives than you can care for adequately therefore if your a millionaire or something you can obviously care for more than 4 wives adequately. Only 1-3% marriages are polygamous. Rules Concerning Polygamy 1. Even for as noble an objective as the welfare of the children of widows, a man cannot take more than four wives. (I see how you could get this from rule 1 however this also rule 2.) 2. "If a man is unable to deal justly with all four wives he should not marry more than the number he can be just with." Justice is a value that has to be maintained at all costs and cannot be sacrificed even for such a noble cause. (Rule 2 implies a man can have more than 4 wives if he can actually handle the task fairly.) During the time of Muhammad society was strictly patriarchal so if a woman's husband died she would be destitute more than likely. Polygamous marriages were the solution to this. Also keep in mind polygamy was practiced by most Abrahamic religious offshoots. Rise of Islam came during a time of War so many men were killed who left wives and children behind. As a previous poster stated in order to proselytize other tribes he had to marry into those groups so some of the marriage were to care for the wives of the fallen and others were strategically motivated to spread Islam. I hope that answers your question.
