Rabbits are native to every continent but Australia and Antarctica. The majority of rabbits are native to North America, Europe and Asia. They live almost everywhere, including forests, prairies, deserts, and even the tundra. Cottontails are geneally not very strong runners, so they tend to shelter in burrows. Hares are the fastest and strongest runners and they only need to use grass nests or may also shelter in caves or rock crevices.
