If I thought my child needed a spanking I would be the only one I'd allow to give it to them. When we were kids corporal punishment was the norm. My little brother earned himself a spanking, what he didn't earn was being stripped down and spanked in a private office by a man that seemed to enjoy the whole process. That was the last spanking my parents allowed anyone to give their children.

Then say "no". In most of today's schools, spanking is not allowed. There are alternative ways to punishing a child. Sometimes kids can be placed in time out during class for a short amount of time, and this is usually effective for most children. There should be a discipline code for the school parents should have signed at the beginning of the school year. It tells you how the school disciplines a child.

I forgot to say that in Middle School, spanking for girls is total humiliation, so I wouldn't allow them to spank the girls. Sometimes students in Middle School are placed in detention hall during the day if they can't behave in the classroom.

I believe you should say no unless your kids are really out of control: tell the school to report serious transgressions to you...& then you punish them as you see fit. Also then you have the additional threat: If you don't ___, then I should give the school permission... I know that sounds trivial & trite; The Chess Grandmaster Tartacover said: "A threat is more powerful than its execution"
