If the electrical item is something like a stove, dishwasher or wash machine, yeah getting it fixed is possible.
If we are talking about something like an X-box, stereo and other mostly 'solid state' built things then the warranty may cover it better than paying for it yourself.
Mind the little stuff tends to not really be fixable. I have discovered the hard way that DVD players should be recycled once they start giving fits, far easier then trying to get them repaired which has always been a temporary fix.
When I purchase a product I get extended warranty, making certain that in cases of 'breakage' for the small things it is replacement, not repair that takes place.
Do you need a coaxial cable with HDMI?
