Wow! Amazing and most beautiful pictures. Thanks for posting the inspiring religious mosaic paintings. I can't even begin to tell you what your photographs have done for me. The colors, the methods of taking the pictures, and the different subjects are incredible. I had never heard of Napoleon's tomb. I'm seeing it here for the first time. I'm happy to learn that. It's a beautiful sight and so historical. The Rose Window at Notre Dame? OMG! I've seen pictures of it before, but never like this. The colors are so brilliant. It's like standing there looking at it!

The Mosaic of the Virgin Mary is so beautiful and spiritual. It brings out the purity of the Virgin's heart into view. That's is a great feeling. Christ of the Loafs and the Fishes is also so moving. I've drawn a picture of "Ezekiel's Dream" that this picture reminds me of. I had to do much research on the art of the period. This art has many of the methods of drawing I borrowed for my painting, except the wings of the angels. I think mine are more ancient, since I borrowed some ideas from 12th century churches. I'm glad you are travelling are are able to take such wonderful pictures.

I'm glad you are able to share them. Do you sell any pictures? I'd be interested in having a few to draw from. I'm going to post some of my art around Dec. 18 while I am on a trip also. I hope you will look in my profile. I'm hoping to get a website like you have for my art work and photographs. My photographs are not even close to yours but I've taken photos of what I have around here in this uninhabited wilderness. I think people might enjoy that. Thanks for sharing, Woodsill! Marguerite, I am glad you enjoyed the photos. Old churches are wonderful places of architecture and art. To your comment on the uninhabited wilderness, I and many others enjoy landscape photography, so I will look forward to seeing them. I am personally not very good at landscape photography, but will give it a try now and then. I have never thought of selling my photographs. If you see one or two you would like to draw or have, just let me know and I can email you the real file, which you could print much larger. I take the photos because I enjoy it and if it brings joy to someone else, then it is a bonus for me. You can bet I will check your profile for your artwork in mid to late December. I took a pretty good shot of Mt. Fuji this past week when traveling from Tokyo to Osaka. However, it is only ok, because I took it with my Blackberry camera while traveling 200mph on the bullet train. The photo does not do the mountain justice. I am not sure it is good enough to post, but I will do it today so you can see it. I will probably take it down after a few days. Woodshill

Yes, I also loved the architecture too. There is so much I'd like to say about all your photographs but that would take too much space here. I am going to keep coming back to your website to take my time looking at details. I was most intrigued with the church in Estonia. It's the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. I've taken notes to read about the places you've been to. I was going to suggest you write a book on your travels with pictures. It would be a most precious thing to present to your family. I'd be interested in reading it too. I'll check for your Mt. Fuji! Soooooo cool! :))))

I just looked at Mt. Fuji. That's a great picture, Woodshill! It is so beautiful and clear. There is nothing wrong with it. I thought it would be blurred, but it isn't. I didn't realize is was to huge, compared to the town right under it. I'm sure it was breath taking. I felt that way when I saw a volcano when we were flying into Mexico City. It top was sticking up above the clouds. Let me find out what the name of that volcano is. I'll be back! Thanks for posting the photo!

Marguerite, I have never seen Popotecatepetl. It looks like a great volcanic mountain and quite a good natural item to photograph. I have only been to Mexico once and it was to Puerto Vallarta for a golf outing with some clients. I should make it to Mexico City by the end of the 2nd quarter. I too, was intrigued by the church in Estonia. One of my favorite photographs of all is the photo of its cupolas. You wrote about the rose window of Notre Dame, I was in that church for about two hours and could have easily spent more time there. It was just before Good Friday. I don’t know if you know it or not, but Notre Dame is said to hold the Crown of Thorns and they bring them out every Good Friday for viewing by the public. I was gone by then, but I bet there were tons of people there for the viewing. There are companies on line that will create a book for you if you upload your photos. I understand you can lay out the pages and every design item. A friend of mine created one and it was quite impressive. So, I have toyed with the idea. Woodshill.

I hope that when you go to Mexico City you take time to go see the pyramids and take pictures of them. The Museum of Anthropology is a must see also. I was amazed at all the art there is just out there in the streets, statues everywhere and murals of all sorts. You and your camera would be really busy! Notre Dame sounds intriguing. It would be nice to see the Crown of Thorns. One of the churches, I visited in this are had a crown or thorns set on a podium type structure covered with a purple cloth with large nails inside of it. I have pictures of those also.

The book idea sounds like a great one. I've been working on a book, since I also like to write, which I need to put together since all my research is finished. One bookstore I visited,where I talked to the manager, he told me to bring my books down when I have them published and he would sell them. They have an area there for local writers. That's going into my next life after getting my artist life to take off. So while you are out there flying from place to place you can be planning what you want to do next or during the life you are leading now. How much more effort would it take to get your book written and published? Think about it!

I will think about it Marguerite! I think about what I am going to do with in my next life, the one after corporate America. I have always thought I would run a non-for-profit for a cause in which I believed. Most center around children or battered women. I was on the board of one before I moved to England, but had to give it up when I moved. I have not taken the time to find another since I have returned. I figure I could do that part time and then golf and take pictures the rest of the time.

I'm travelling to North Texas and then to Houston, staying with friends during the holidays. No, I'm not teaching. I was teaching music, but I wanted to get into art to see if I could succeed in that. I'm teaching myself by buying art books, observing other artists, and going to museums to see the best art works. I have taken a few art classes in college so I'm not totally starting from scratch, plus I've been doing art all my life. No, I don't plan to paint anywhere, because I've been doing that the last 5 months here by myself, so I need a vacation. Thanks! Have fun on your break also. I hope to check AB when I'm at friends' houses, so I can post my art.

I look forward to your art postings. That is quite a courageous leap you took to quit work and work on your art. I think it is great! Doing something like that is not in my make up, then again, I don’t have the talent you do. I worked with a guy about 8 years ago that one day quit and became a sheep farmer in up-state NY. It was his life’s dream. One of my colleges saw him a year ago selling lamb at a farmer’s market in NYC, so I guess he is still in business. He used to read sheep farming books on flights, so it was not an impulsive change for him. I thought it was an interesting story to share with you and show you others have done similar things. Best of luck to you and have a safe holiday trip!
