Christians one of the commandments is "thou shalt not kill" Do you think God makes an exception during war? No nastiness please.

The actual command is 'thou shalt not MURDER'. Legal killing is fine.

If taken literally and followed to the letter it would mean what it says.

God doesn't want war. Unless you have a justification for your actions, you shouldn't be killing anyone. A greedy government isn't a good excuse to kill people. You're killing innocent people, so why would there be an exception?

No. And if he didn't think how many Christian Republicans would be so screwed who were all about "Go team America....let's kill anyone who isn't like us....in war" ahhh I'm an Atheist so really this question wasn't directed at me so i'll be moving on. Insightful question though. PLUS 6

You realize, right, that the only commandments that make real sense is the don't kill and don't steal.

Nothing in the Bible supports this... Jesus made it very plain...DO NOT KILL...so a true Christian would avoid any situation where this could happen. A true Christian would not even enter the armed services. Or any occupation where he might have to hurt another human being...Even security.

I personally don't think so. There is also "love thy neighbor as thyself" which, although not a commandment, I'm pretty sure He means as stated. It doesn't say "thou shalt not kill except when you feel like it". I see no wiggle room in those 4 words. Those who ignore them are not of God...they are of the Devil in my opinion. I don't care if they have their holy books memorized or pray all day they are not followers of God. Just my opinion of course. Having never had God speak directly to me, although I speak to Him daily, I am just guessing! :)
