  • They are always detrimental. Some people will always get along with certain others better. But it's not an open forum if people's views are automatically shut-out because they are not part of the in-crowd. (the idea of an internet "in-crowd" is quite laughable I know). I also think there are definitely cliques at AB. I could name them, but I won't. For instance, the more well known people get more points just for being well known. I've seen "the cool kids" LOL. get double digit points for stupid, thoughtless one or two word answers, while newbies take time and effort to seriously arrive at an answer and get not one point for it. IMO, the top answers are RARELY the true top answers. And yes, there are a few here that join together to bully the people w/o their own AB clique. I've been bullied lots of times. But of course, these people would say I bully them too. The difference. I am one person, so I am alone in this. And my intention is never to bully, anyway. (honest : )
  • I don't see where only hanging out with a few like minded people would broaden one's horizons. You could do that in your own town with the same people you've known all your life. What is the point of having access to the whole world to only be with a few people exactly like you and bully others. That's just stupid.
