There are many auto parts manufacturers that supply parts to the likes of Ford And Chevy. They are as good or better than the original parts. They will probably be less expensive to buy them from someone other than the dealer. Take for instance Bilstein shocks. Because they have the AC Delco sticker on them they will charge you more. Buy the same Bilstein shock, minus the AC Delco sticker and you'll pay much less.

You're reading Who are some top American auto parts manufacturers? Do large outside firms which supply auto parts to major brands exist in the US or do companies like Ford and Chevy make all their own parts?

I'm referring more to parts used during the manufacturing process, rather than aftermarket. Are domestic cars manufactured with any outsourced parts or are all parts created by the automobile manufacturer? Thanks for the answer though.
