Yes, of course. All caps are used for emphasis and yelling/shouting on the 'net. Sometimes, however, it just gives me the impression that they are too lazy to learn to use the Shift key.

Yes, since I'm such a chat addict I've began thinking that if something's written with ALL CAPITALS, I read it in my mind with emphasis or like being shouted. I was going to ask this one, good thing I found your question. =D

I haven't the faintest idea *why* people do that. I just received an email (business-related, no less) where the "from" was all caps, the subject was all caps, and... you guessed it... the message was all caps! Some people are too lazy to learn to use the shift key, so their sentences are never capitalized. But using the caps lock is certainly not the "next best thing!!"

NO.. I think its ridiculous if you are bothered by someone TYPING IN CAPS. Many people write in ALL CAPS. The people who criticize others for the way they type, are pricks...and nothing more.

If they are constantly using caps lock, then yeah maybe they are yelling but if they capitalize a few words maybe they are trying to emphasize the words to get their point across.

It depends on the context. If someone types everything in upper case then I figure they're just used to typing in billboard or proclamation style. But if some of the words in their message are in lower case then I'd feel like any that they typed in all upper case were being yelled.

It depends on what you're reading it from. If it's on the internet, it's usually shouting, yelling or trying to tell the other person you're annoyed and angry. If you were reading a book, it's either a title or that the character is yelling.

YES. But if only a few words are in Caps then i know they are merely emphasizing a word instead of yelling it.
