Help answer this question below.
A lot more difficult than flying a USAF C-135 aircraft from Guam, Philippines to Lebanon Municipal Airport, NH, USA, with 2 mid-air refuelings, in an imaginary flight of fancy, taking 156 people for a joy ride, I would imagine.
.
(tongue in cheek answer)
I think it is easy and possibly fun to fly big, computer piloted jets. I think it's the landing thats going to result in firey death for everyone on board. That is of course assuming we actually survived the take off!
Easy Peasy, jet on a wire . Automatic Pilot nothing to it . Maybe we could steal one and try it out.:)
Flying a fully functional modern aircraft in good conditions is not difficult. The difficult bit is being prepared for everything that might go wrong, and having all the recovery actions ready for instant action. When something goes wrong, and the aircraft suddenly becomes difficult to fly, there is no time to look things up in a manual. A trained pilot will do the right thing at once, an untrained one will be lost.

You're reading How "difficult" is it to fly a transcontinental jetliner, like a Boeing 747 or 777? How much "high tech math" does it take? Isn't it mostly computers and just punching buttons now? (asked in response to 'how hard is it to drive a train'...tongue in cheek)

Possibly, Suby. A C-135 is a Boeing 707, however,..a somewhat older model. I have flown on many of them.
