Help answer this question below.
Road work and an accident that's off to the side of the road or even on the other side of the road but everyone slows has to down to take a look and thus backing traffic up sometimes for miles!
The journey to the destination always seems to take longer going there than coming back. I travel by bus on long journeys from one part of the country to the other and the lack of proper air conditioning can be a problem.
The heat at times
For long trips, I usually take the train. I bring my laptop with me to pass the time. What bothers me the most is the limited selection of food.
For me it is usually just the time it takes.
Gas prices.

Its back aches for me and potty breaks for my wife.
She goes every 30 minutes like clockwork.
I suggested that she wear a big sponge and she told me to kiss her ---.
I lost that conversation.
Cramped spaces.
other drivers. My mom is :O at the road I take between my house and hers, because it's all two-lane highway, "scenic byway," but I rarely end up next to/behind another car for more than a few miles. And I get home faster because of it.
The odors coming from the Kids in the back seat. Snoring and Farting while you're trying to stay awake.
Others in the car bother me the most. I prefer to make long road trips alone. I stop when I want and my car has perfect seats for long trips.
The slow poke drivers - having to hit the brakes
--> I love using cruise
Being stopped and backed up for miles because of "road work". It took us four days to get from eastern Oklahoma to east Tennessee the last trip we made. Two days is normal,...that includes stopping and sleeping. I am sure it was all needed, but it was really a pain. We even had to take two detours to get through Memphis. Just bad timing, I guess. I hope next summer will be smoother sailing. Oh, I love you all, Arkies and Tennesseeans....You are the "salt of the earth". You were all very helpful. It was a sort of a sad trip as it was to a funeral of a cousin.
when i see something that catches my interest, like a building, landmark, etc, i am unable to further check it out.
The boredom. After a few hours the scenery looks the same.
BOREDOM!!!!
Unless I'm riding my Harley, then it's my butt getting tired! : )
Definitely my back!
Great question!! +5

The boredom and trying to not fall asleep during the flatlands.
My other half loves the air con on full whcak when he drives... Going on long journeys with him are horrible because I'll be shivering the whole time. So, that! =)
back ache.
Neck cramps
Having to grab the "oh my gosh" handle, put my foot through the floor, and screech every time my hubby does, well, anything while he's driving!
Not being able to stretch out, which leads to leg cramps and back aches.
Stopping for the night when I need to just get to my destination.
I prefer to have two or three who can drive through the night and sleep in the car. Drove from Seattle to Los Angeles once in less than 24 hours pulling a trailer. That calculates to an average speed of 50mph including all the gas and potty stops.
Backache. I take a pillow with me and sometimes even that doesn't help. :)
My husband yapping
Bathrooms that are dirty. We should pull a trailer with a porta potty on it. LOL
Getting cussed out every 15 minutes because his insane driving causes me to make that noise when I suck my breath in really fast and everyone in the car freaks out and says "what?" as he slams on the brakes and......repeat....the circle of my life.
Finding a good place to eat, where you can sit and relax and it doesn't have arches.:):)
I have a chronic pain condition and if I sit for longer than 15-20 minutes I am in pain and if I am driving with the constant movement of my feet they are what hurts the worst. I can't stand long road trips. I would rather fly. I moved here in August and it was 425 miles. I stopped about 50 times in 7 hours. I hate them.
my legs. they cramp within the hour when i'm in a car. i can't stand it.
family matters, between bathroom/potty breaks and lots of other reasons, this is what bothers ME the most. However, my own health comes in a very CLOSE second.
For long road trips, do you prefer to drive at night? What impact does the closing of rest stops have on your trip?

Do you know where to go when you want to play in the snow? Lassen Volcanic Ntl. Park in northern California. 2 days ago hubby and I did it.
