There hasn't been, nor was there one in the Bible. Maybe they were the Philistines, I've read. Will there ever be one? Yes, there is now. Now all they need is their own country.

The Bible doesn't mention the United States of America, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Canada, Japan, etc. Biblical foundation for natioinhood doesn't seem to be a valid basis for the identity of a country. Generally, countries have been founded based on their strength. And it is interesting to note that most countries seem to claim kinship with god.

Palestine is a euphomism of Philistine.

Palestine is mentioned in the Bible a "few" times (over 250, in fact). Some versions of the Bible will translate the name differently (Palestine/Philistia/Philistine/Palaistina). The name Palestine originated from the Greek word pronounced Palaistina, which is derived from the Hebrew word pronounced pel-eh-sheth, meaning land of the Philistines (one of the most famous of whom was Goliath). The original word referred only to a small coastal territory corresponding to what is today Gaza, never to all of the land of Jacob (Israel). As for Palestine ever being a nation, on the same day that the State of Israel was announced, the Arab League announced that it would set up a single Arab civil administration throughout Palestine. The All-Palestine government was declared in Gaza on 1 October 1948, partly as an Arab League move to limit the influence of Transjordan over the Palestinian issue. The former mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was appointed as president. The government was recognised by Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen, but not by Transjordan (later known as Jordan) or any non-Arab country. It was little more than an Egyptian protectorate and had negligible influence or funding. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the area allocated to the Palestinian Arabs and the international zone of Jerusalem were occupied by Israel and the neighboring Arab states in accordance with the terms of the 1949 Armistice Agreements. Palestinian Arabs living in the Gaza Strip or Egypt were issued with All-Palestine passports until 1959, when Gamal Abdul Nasser, president of Egypt, issued a decree that annulled the All-Palestine government. Below, I have added a picture of Biblical Israel so that you can reference "Ancient Palestine". Also, I've included a picture taken from the Declaration of State of Israel in 1948.

There are a whole bunch of people who call themselves Palestinians. One lives across the street from me. As far as I'm concerned they're a nation whether they're recognized or not.

The so-called "Palestinians" are indistinguishable from any other middle eastern Arab..same language and culture. They are relatively new to the game of political pawnship..invented and named in the 70's. Just another tool to attack the tiny democratic and civilized country of Israel.
