    Learning chinese would definitely help peoples' careers, especially those who work in international companies, or in the manufacturing industry.

    I live in America where the english language is spoken.

    I have no benefit from learning another language at my age.

    The only language i need to know is printed on 80% of the merchandise imported into America.

    And thats..............Made in China.

    If your profession involves frequent contact with Asians then yes, I would consider learning the language. As far as which dialect, that depends on which dialect is main stream in that area.
