Well, people would get to wherever they're going to a bit faster. But of course that will definitely increase the risk of somebody crashing. Speed limits were designed to keep drivers safe at slower speeds so wouldn't raising the limit be counter-productive?

I don't think it matters what the speed limit is. People are always going to drive faster than what they are, and unfortunately there will always be accidents because of it.
