Easy. Car thieves can just use a tow truck. It has mercury "level" switch that will automatically shut the system off when one end of the car is lifted. It is designed to shut itself off when it is being towed. There are also magnetic pulse generators or microwave generators that will "fry" any active electronic circuits they are fired at. The thieves will be destroying the vehicle's electronics, but they will still get the rest of the parts.
