  • My left armpit gets riddled with these cysts. They are usually a clogged pore. Hot compress, and keep squeezing it to losen up the inside of it. If it swells and gets bright red you will have to get it lanced.
  • Could be a number of things. I had a lump similar to that and it turned out to be a clogged sweat gland. The doctor lanced it. But you might have something more serious. I'd get it checked.
  • hi ,, it sounds just like a clogged pore . if it does not hurt leave it alone . .. and dont squish it . it will subside ..your type of deodorant can cause this also .. try changing it .. or washing it off nightly . .. if it hurts without touching it ,,, see a doctor . ps .... eating cashews will help it shrink .. ;-)
  • It's most likely a "lipoma", or a benign fatty cyst. I get those occasionally, and they are somewhat firm. Yes, they can be slightly painful. Usually they don't cause any problems and will go away after some time. But it can stay for a long time. I notice I get those more frequently when I have lost weight fast, or when I eat a lot of saturated fatty foods like potato chips or hard cheese. One time I got one on my forearm and it hurt badly, so I went to the doctor where he tried to cut it open and squeeze it. It didn't help, and only left a scar. The best thing to do is just to leave it. If it gets bigger, get it checked out, just to make sure it's nothing serious. But these cysts are common---due to blocked sebaceous glands deep under the skin.
  • It may be any of the things mentioned above, but don't forget that you have lymph nodes in your armpit which is a place that cancer can metastasize. I'd at least have them look at it. Boils usually are painful, cancer isn't until the late stages.
