I imagine that the doctor would need to see the patient before refilling the script.
Doctors are really busy and a lot of them think their time is more important than yours. However you knew when your son would run out and should have contacted the office several days before he did run out. Those pills are strictly monitored and depending on the situation the patient will have to be seen every month or at least on a fairly consistent basis. It is sad that your son will suffer not having his meds because you didn't think far enough ahead to get them in time. Don't assume that the doctor will stop and write whatever you want when you want it. Lesson learned hopefully.

You're reading Went to son's Dr. to get Rx for ADHD pills he is on. It requires a written prescription. Can't be called in/faxed. I had no more pills. The receptionist told me come back later in the week, that the Dr. would not stop to write a Rx. Was this wrong?

The doctor told me ahead of time to come in to get the prescription. He said he did not need to see my son for another month
